Part-time jobs or extra income are a topic that has been talked about more this year. We see many people who used to rely solely on their regular income now trying to find other ways to earn extra income.
The arrival of Covid is a catalyst for change.
No crisis has ever had such a profound impact. COVID has affected every industry, both employers and employees. As a result, our domestic labor market, with around 40 million people working, has been severely impacted, whether in terms of salary cuts or layoffs.
Although the situation has improved somewhat, entrepreneurs still need to tighten their belts and find measures to reduce costs in preparation, such as delaying employee salary increases, cutting employee overtime pay, deciding not to increase employee salaries, or not paying employee bonuses, etc.
Because at this point, no one knows when or how COVID will end. Therefore, companies need to maintain liquidity by keeping cash or delaying any spending. Of course, the people affected are still “working people”.
When income decreases, it is necessary to reduce expenses. This is what most people try to do. However, once you reduce expenses to a certain point, you cannot reduce them any further because it affects the quality of life of both yourself and your family.
Part-time work: a survival option for working people amid uncertainty in this era
One of the most severely affected occupations is the aviation industry, such as flight attendants. There is still no sign of recovery at this time.
Admin had the opportunity to talk with the young people in this career group from Thai AirAsia during the 2nd Job 2nd Chance project. We found that there were many interesting aspects and useful ideas for people working in this era.

“The job that we always thought was stable is no longer the case.”
With travel now only allowed within the country, this has resulted in a significant loss of income for flight attendants. At first, many of them were very stressed and worried because they did not know how to solve the problem. But after some time, many of them had to get up and do business, find products to sell or sell their own items for cash to make up for the lost income during the past period.
Nong Jub, a ground staff, told us that the lessons of this COVID-19 pandemic have made us need to prepare for uncertain situations in our regular jobs. We have to start looking for backup jobs to generate backup income in case of unexpected events that may occur in the future.
“The time we have now gives us the opportunity to plan for the future and dare to try new things.”
Nong Pla, a flight attendant, told us that her once stable career has become one of the worst-case scenarios. She has to thank COVID for making her dare to step out of her comfort zone. Before this, with her seemingly stable career, she never planned for the future clearly, never thought about having a backup plan. But when she encountered this round of COVID, it was over.
“COVID has given Pla new experiences, new perspectives on life, which has improved him. And I think that no matter what crisis we face in the future, we won’t be afraid anymore because we have the experience to fight.”

Nong Pla also told us that because we had no other choice, we had to keep fighting for our survival. With more time for ourselves (due to reduced work and income), we realized that we had many more abilities inside us. And if we worked hard, it could be converted into income for us. We could do many different jobs, such as cooking, baking, teaching yoga, etc.
“COVID has made us realize that our lives are uncertain. It’s a reminder that it’s time to live life with caution.”
Nong Pu, a flight attendant, told us that COVID-19 has not only affected her career but also her health. The problem of losing income has caused her stress and anxiety, which has affected her mental and physical health. Life balance is therefore important.
People have the right to be sad about what happened, but after that, we have to stop being sad and get up and keep fighting. Because if we still have hope, we still have the power to drive ourselves to move forward, try new things to open new opportunities for ourselves.
“COVID is like a magnifying glass that makes us see the situation more clearly.”
Peach, a flight attendant, told us that the cabin crew career (which is probably similar to other careers) before COVID-19, she could see that this career might not be stable in the future because it might be disrupted at any time. But because of the good income from this career and the fact that she still thought she could continue in this career, she didn’t seriously look for other avenues.

When COVID hit, it made me realize that uncertainty is real. We can’t just sit around and wait for the situation to improve on its own. So, in the remaining time, we need to get up and develop ourselves, try new things, meet new people, and look for other sources of income. This is important. In addition to adding positive energy to our lives, it also helps build immunity to cope with the uncertainty of our future.
From someone who had never been a real estate salesperson, I had to get up and try doing it as a side job. How was it?
The “ 2nd Job 2nd Chance ” project by Ananda Development Public Company Limited has collaborated with Thai AirAsia and Thai AirAsia X to help the brothers and sisters of both companies to have a career and extra income by becoming a Property Consultant Partner (PCP), which is considered another way to generate income in this COVID era.
Before starting this course, many of the students were very worried because many of them had never or had no experience in presenting or giving advice on real estate sales before. But after completing all 7 online modules and joining the Workshop, the students told us that

“It’s a step forward in life, learning things that we probably wouldn’t have learned in depth under normal circumstances.”
Nong Pu told us that before coming to study, she admitted that she was like an empty glass with nothing. But because she was curious and wanted to open up opportunities for herself, she decided to try it. What she got from this project was the ability to draw out the potential of the soft skills that she had from her career to further develop into other careers, such as PCP.

In addition, having a Growth Mindset is very important in this era. It can be applied to both being a flight attendant that we love and a new job as a PCP, as well as being able to expand into many other fields of work.
“It was a worthwhile time because in addition to gaining new knowledge and opening up a new world, I also saw new perspectives from other businesses such as real estate.”
Nong Pla told us that she was very lucky to have the opportunity to learn and study from real practitioners, from people who were truly successful. In addition to being easy to understand, it is also an opportunity to lead to another good income channel for us.
Actually, we have to thank our executives. We are proud to be part of an organization with executives with good visions that make us AirAsia never give up because the executives are good examples for us. If we just know how to adapt to the crisis, we will survive.
“Being a Property Consultant Partner is not just about being a condo salesperson. We have to be knowledgeable, understanding, and able to help customers find the right place to live for them.”
Nong Jub told us that because working as a PCP is not just about selling, but also about being more than a salesperson, being a PCP requires comprehensive knowledge about real estate and requires many skills, especially in terms of practicing observation and understanding customer needs, which can be applied in practice and is useful for both regular work and other future work. In addition, the COVID situation has made people pay more attention to financial planning.

“There are always opportunities for us. It depends on us whether we dare to take the step and try.”
Peach told us that Ananda’s team is very determined and attentive to every detail in this project. They really want us to succeed. What Peach clearly sees is that this is an opportunity, and it’s up to us to seize it or not. Are we determined or not? If we do both and still can’t succeed, we just have to keep trying. Just don’t get discouraged or give up. In addition, we can use the skills we already have from our career as a crew member to help as sales consultants.
“2nd Job 2nd Chance” and becoming a PCP, is it really possible?
Phi Rat Maneerat Thanatchaset, Managing Director of IDEO/IDEO MOBI, Ananda Development Public Company Limited, the initiator of the “2nd Job 2nd Chance” project, told us that the goal of this project is to help young people in career groups affected by COVID-19 to have additional income from this career.

Therefore, knowledge about this career, to be successful, it is necessary to continuously learn because the real estate business is changing all the time. Customer behavior is also changing rapidly. Ananda has therefore arranged a team of mentors to take care of all new PCPs in order to provide close advice and knowledge continuously through additional courses related to real estate for new PCPs.
In addition, Ananda also has an Online Platform to support the work of PCP, whether it is information sources and details of all Ananda projects, VDO media introducing each project, so that all PCPs can access information more easily and can present this information to customers immediately without having to come to the project.
Phi Rat told us that real estate is a big deal. If the PCPs can sell, they will be able to do any sales-related career in the future because the principles of understanding customers, taking care of customers, and positioning yourself as more than just a salesperson can be applied to almost every career. As for whether they will be successful in this side career, Ananda has prepared everything. All that’s left is the PCPs. If they are really determined and ready to go all out, they can definitely do it.

Conclusion
This project is considered a project that has been thought and planned to create success for the students. At this point, many people probably want to know if anyone has been successful or not. The admin has learned that now many students who have joined the project have started to close some sales.
Therefore, being a Property Consultant Partner is another interesting career because in terms of income, if you can do it, it is not a small amount. Who knows, today it may be just a side job, but in the future it may become our main career.
However, if you lack determination or commitment, it will definitely be difficult to succeed in both your regular job and your part-time job.
