Difficulties and obstacles are something that we all have to face and cannot avoid. Therefore, our own attitude is very important, especially when we have to encounter difficulties and obstacles, because it will tell us what the outcome will be after that.
For the admin, I always believe that “when there are obstacles, there will always be growth.”
Such as the story of Pee Aoi – Napaporn Traiwittayakun or “DJ Pee Aoi” that many people are familiar with or know “DJ Aoi” as the “Love Guru” on the program Club Friday on Green Wave FM 106.5 radio station, hosted with DJ Pee Chod – Saithip Montrikul Na Ayutthaya, which is a program that has been a part of Thai society for a long time. It is a program that focuses on giving advice on love problems or problems in married life. This program provides both ideas, methods, and encouragement for both those who are facing problems or those who listen to the story as well.
“Because life is not as beautiful as you think. Everyone has to struggle quite a bit.”
But before reaching this point, P’Oi – Naphaphon Traiwittayakun also had to go through many hardships and obstacles. Today, let’s get to know P’Oi better and receive some good ideas from her stories.
Life is driven by inspiration.
Phi Aoi – Napaporn grew up in a family that was not wealthy. Her parents were merchants. Although they did not have much wealth, the Traiwittayawarikul family was warm and nurtured Phi Aoi to be strong and always look at the bright side of things.
Phi Aoi said that her father ran a small business with her grandmother, while her mother was a vendor. As a result, Phi Aoi and her siblings had to study while helping out at home. When everyone finished studying, they had to come back and sell grilled pork. This made them learn that hardship is also a good teacher because it teaches a child to find small, inexpensive happiness, which is listening to music on the radio. This was the inspiration for her dream of becoming a DJ.
“At that time, I had a small dream, which was to work in a radio program. We compared it to other people having 10 arrows while I only had 5, so I had to shoot accurately. When I had that dream, I had to study very hard and read a lot of books until I was able to pass the entrance exam to Satri Narin School. Then I found out that if I passed the equivalency exam, I would not have to study some classes and would save my mother money. So I went to take the equivalency exam. When I passed the equivalency exam, I was lucky enough to pass the exam to the faculty that I wanted to study, and it was the faculty that made me become a DJ as I wanted to be.”

Life is a struggle for dreams.
P’Oi – Napaporn received the opportunity to become a radio host while still a third-year student in the Faculty of Communication Arts at Chulalongkorn University. When a radio station came to tell her that they were looking for someone to produce a radio program, a Luk Krung music program broadcast from noon to 12:30, P’Oi went and did it. At that time, I didn’t know many songs, so I asked my father to write down the names of the songs for me. Even though I was still a trainee DJ, it was a time when P’Oi was very happy.
After graduating, P’Oi received another opportunity at A-Time Media Company of Saithip Montrikul Na Ayutthaya or DJ Pee Chod. Here, P’Oi had to face a very difficult test, but it was a tough learning that made her stronger and able to push her potential to the fullest.
“Hardship is also a good teacher because it teaches a child to find small, inexpensive happiness, which is listening to music on the radio. ”
“What we had to do was travel from our home in Phra Pradaeng to Sukhumvit 39 to make a demo for P’Chod to listen to every day, which meant hosting a show for P’Chod alone. P’Chod would give us long comments every day. We did this for months without knowing when we would be able to host the show. But we didn’t feel discouraged because we considered this a learning process.”
After that, Phi Oi was given the opportunity to host a program during the 1:00 to 3:00 a.m. time slot every day before being trusted and entrusted to host a program during the station’s important time slot.
Life can always discover new things amidst change.
Until more than 10 years ago, the Thai radio industry had to face a significant change when foreign investors came to invest in the radio business and changed the way radio programs were organized, which focused on playing music, reducing the importance of DJs. This created a trend of new forms of radio programs that became popular. But amidst this change, A-Time Media Company still emphasizes the interaction between listeners and DJs and presents radio programs that do not focus on playing music, but rather the main content is just talking.
Phi Aoi – Napaporn believes that “when there are obstacles, there will always be growth” and said that at that time, the “Chae Tae Chao” program was very popular. Phi Chod therefore thought that we should do a talk show like this on Green Wave. Because Green Wave is an easy-listening station, 80% of which are slow songs. Most of the callers usually request songs while telling their own stories. So we thought, why not use this strength to make a program? That’s how the first episode of Club Friday was born, called “Love Him as Much as a Song”. Until today, the program on Club Friday radio has expanded into movies, series, and stories from the program have been adapted into songs that have become popular in many songs. It is a discovery of something new in change, turning a crisis into an opportunity, and extending to other careers.
Learn to listen to others with understanding.
When P’Oi – Napaporn changed her role from being a speaker to listening to the stories of people who took turns telling their love and relationship stories on the show, she got to know the feelings of the show’s fans and also helped provide advice on how to solve life problems. Today, another job of P’Oi is being a speaker.
“When we listen to other people’s love stories, we see that problems, whether they are work-related or love-related, all have the same coping methods. They are inseparable because we believe that love is a kind of power. If our hearts are broken, we will not have the power to work. So dealing with both of these issues is similar.”
Phi Aoi said that to get through the cycle of sadness from love or work and to understand life more, it is necessary to talk to yourself regularly. She emphasized that listening to your own voice will help people have a more stable mind, understand themselves more, and this understanding will guide them to continue living their lives.
“Life is a daily learning. Learn everything that comes your way. Use your eyes to see, ears to hear, and touch it. We insist that even if today is the last day of your life, don’t stop learning because everything is the best teacher. People who have the opportunity to wake up every day means that today there is a big book waiting for us every morning when we wake up,” DJ Pee Aoi concluded.
The story of P’Oi – Napaporn Triwittayakun is another example for us in changing our perspective on the hardships and obstacles that we all have to face in life. Disappointment may occur sometimes, but we can use such things to create motivation to create good things and create opportunities for the people around us.
The problems we face every day, if we can solve them, we can help others who are also facing the same problems we have been through. This is what we can help people with.
“No matter how big the problem is, it is not difficult if we learn, understand and fight against it.”
And another important thing is “Obstacles, problems or limitations that we have to face, if we can overcome them, we will become stronger and more robust.” A good example from P’Oi – Naphaphon Traiwittayawarakul shows that it is really like that.
