Emotional intelligence is important. It is a very important skill that all ages should have. Because in the working society, we often see coworkers, seniors, or bosses get upset easily or easily irritated with trivial matters. We are the same. Sometimes, small matters can make us upset all day.
These small and trivial matters are the best triggers that cause problems in controlling our emotions. When we cannot control our emotions, we tend to show certain behaviors that we should not do. As a result, people close to us or people around us must also suffer the consequences of what we have done.
Which is something that always ends badly after we explode with emotion without restraint or thought.
What is the root cause of these problems?
It starts from our childhood. Because we haven’t learned and practiced the skills of emotional control or emotional intelligence , we often see children having a lot of problems expressing their emotions, such as wriggling or screaming loudly when parents don’t give in or when children become repressed and can’t control themselves when they get angry, etc.
These behaviors are caused by problems that have been accumulated in us since we were children. Children who are lucky because their parents understand them will have some resistance or the ability to control their emotions to some extent. However, most children are not lucky. When they grow up to be adults, almost all of them have problems controlling their emotions.
But it’s not too late to deal with this problem.
As adults, we can learn this skill, Emotional Intelligence. But wouldn’t it be better if we focused on it with our children or grandchildren at the same time as ourselves?
In foreign countries, emotional intelligence skills are taught in schools from childhood because they believe that this skill plays a very important role in making children grow up to be quality adults.
Did you know that developing emotional intelligence skills from a young age will make them more likely to become good bosses and leaders when they grow up? Emotional intelligence is an important ingredient for success in one’s career.
Start cultivating emotional intelligence skills from a young age.
“Therefore, the matter of emotional intelligence plays a very important role because it is an important skill that should be learned from childhood, and the family plays a very important role in promoting learning and training this skill.
In Daniel Goleman’s research, it has been proven that children who are trained in emotional intelligence skills from a young age tend to have better physical and mental health than the average person and are able to earn higher incomes or have higher jobs than the average person.
Including that people who are emotionally intelligent are much less likely to commit crimes than the average person.
And there is additional research that children who have skills in emotional intelligence will be children who are good at problem solving and also have the ability to do activities well under pressure.
Therefore, these research findings reinforce why children need to learn about emotional intelligence.
Whenever children learn about emotional intelligence, here are some of the things they gain:
Self-Awareness: Children will understand their own feelings and emotions and how their emotions affect others.
Self Motivation: Children will have more confidence to push themselves towards their goals or what they intend to do.
Manage Stress: Children will understand and know what causes or causes of stress or pressure that occurs to them, and they will be able to find ways to cope and deal with it.
Making Good Decisions: When children can recognize and understand their emotions, their decision-making abilities improve.
Building Empathy: Children will understand others better and how their actions and behaviors affect the feelings and emotions of others.
Communicating Effectively: When children have emotional intelligence skills, they will be able to communicate, talk, and behave with others clearly and effectively.
Building Relationships: Children will be able to build good relationships with people around them better and more easily.
These are the important benefits that children will gain from having emotional intelligence skills.
Just think, if our younger siblings, older siblings, or even our bosses at work had been learning and practicing emotional intelligence since childhood, what would the results be?
The working environment will probably be much better, right? The people who work here will probably be happier, right?
This kind of organization is probably a really nice place to be.
Just because we are old doesn’t mean we ca n’t learn about emotional intelligence.
So if we don’t want to end up like other working people who can’t manage their emotions, or we don’t want our children, grandchildren, or loved ones to be like that, or we don’t want them to be unhappy in their work or in their lives,
We need to encourage them to learn this skill now before it’s too late.
Because emotional intelligence is important and is a skill that all successful people in this world have.
