Is Employee Engagement , or the involvement and commitment of employees to their work and organization, a path that can lead an organization through crisis, cope with change, and create sustainability for the organization?
Why do many organizations place importance on building employee engagement and commitment to their jobs and organizations?
Because the benefits gained from creating Employee Engagement can create many results not only in the organization, such as people alone, but also in other matters that we might not expect, such as:
- Productivity Improvement: In terms of employees, a Gallup study found that employees who are engaged and committed to their jobs and organizations are 17% more productive than average employees who are not interested in this.
- Higher Employee Retention: A Gallup study found that if an organization promotes employee engagement and engagement, employees are 49% more likely to stay with the organization, compared to companies or organizations that don’t care about this issue.
- Improve Profit: A study by Wyatt Watson found that companies with high employee engagement results in 21% higher profits than the average company. Additionally, it was found that if an organization promotes employee engagement, the results in revenue per employee increased by 26%.
- Improve Customer Satisfaction: There are many studies abroad that have proven that organizations or companies that give importance and have good results in Employee Engagement, in addition to employees being happy working for the organization, they also pass on happiness to their customers, whether it is in terms of product quality or excellent service.
In addition, there are other matters as well, such as creating new innovations in the organization. If any organization opens up opportunities for employees to participate and places importance on creating organizational engagement, there will be a high likelihood that they will be able to continuously invent and develop new products or services that have new and useful innovations. At this point, we probably understand how important Employee Engagement is.
“For executives, before asking for dedication from employees, ask yourself first whether you have ever devoted yourself to your employees.”
Although many organizations are trying to create employee engagement and commitment to their work and the organization, this is not as easy as it seems. It was found that many places are not as successful as hoped. The main problem lies with the organization’s leaders themselves, who do not understand or focus on giving orders, do not show sincerity, and do not act as a role model for employees.
Are there any organizations that are serious about this and dare to be open about it ?
Because the admin wants to know which companies in our country give importance and are serious about creating employee engagement and participation. After contacting many places, I found that there is one interesting company, which is SC Asset Corporation (SC Asset) , which develops integrated real estate.
Then I really have to go visit. Let’s go see the workplace. And I have to talk to the employees to see what they think about this matter. And this is what the admin concluded from going to the company visit this time.
“Don’t build a company, build a family.”
At SC Asset, this is not just a workplace, but a place that all employees say is their second home. The term “second home” has a deeper meaning because it is not just about working together, but also about working together and understanding each other.
Many organizations face problems with generation gaps in work, but here, there are almost no problems. Seniors (uncles or aunts) can work well with their younger siblings, as if they were all the same generation, becoming one big family.
“Everyone talks about building a relationship with customers. We should build one with your employees first.” – Angela Ahrendts
Instead of focusing solely on customer satisfaction, we should also focus on our employees, because they are just as important as our customers.
Because the executives show their true intentions that they “understand” and “know” each other, and also create a space that provides “opportunities” for all employees because the work environment is important and affects the quality of life of employees as well. At SC Asset, there is a common area called “Co.Lab” which is a co-working space, an area designed to meet the needs of modern work for employees because it has many facilities for working or doing activities, whether it is working alone, enjoying the cool breeze or under the trees, or working in groups to discuss projects together.

In “Co.Lab”, there are many multipurpose areas, such as a space for Town Hall, a phone room (called PODKET, very quiet, cuts out noise well), a reading corner, a meeting room for Brainstorming to find new ideas, or a space for talking to find new ideas, promoting creativity. If you are hungry while working, there are snacks, tea, coffee to drink and eat for free. All employees can come to use the space or come to work here, or you can make an appointment with business partners to discuss work here as well (the Co.Lab area is in line with the concept of Collaboration).
In terms of activities, I must say that SC Asset is another company that has a lot of activities for employees, such as:
- Star Giving Activity “Stars” are a symbol of gratitude and also includes caring for colleagues. This activity promotes teamwork. If any friends impress us or help us, we can give them stars.
- Hackathon activities are also a way to promote collaboration, learning new things and continuously developing to produce the best results. Other recreational activities, sports, or Outings, or the latest activities, Employee Festival, etc.

“Always treat your employees exactly as you want them to treat your best customers.” – Stephen R. Covey
Take good care of your employees as if they were your good customers. Here, the employee turnover rate is very low when compared to other companies in the same business. From the perspective of the management who cares about their employees as if they were the organization’s customers, the organization has come up with great innovations to meet the needs of its employees and support the changing future.
For example, the SC Application is a Mobile Application that can be called an Application for real Employees that can be used for various purposes, whether it is for recording time in and out, or for selecting training programs. Here, each employee can plan their own training, or employees can present or communicate with the top management through this channel. There are also many other features.

In terms of communicating with the top management or the CEO, the admin secretly wondered if he really has time to answer every question from the employees. It turned out that he really did answer every question 100%. The fact that the CEO places importance on and gives every employee the opportunity to access it (even if it is through an application) shows that the top leader really places importance on the participation and commitment of the employees towards their work and the organization.

Conclusion
Stories like this don’t happen overnight or just because of an executive’s order. Everything has a beginning. If an organization doesn’t start by building a strong, positive culture from the beginning, there’s no way it can lead the company through crisis and change.
As SC Asset Corporation has shown us, Employee Engagement is really important and the results of this have led the company to continuous success, whether in terms of revenue and profit, as well as the many awards the company has received.
Therefore, “In the modern era, it is not enough to just know your employees. You have to know their hearts as well.” Because they are another core of the organization that will help the organization grow sustainably.
